1,000 Years of Jewish Life in Poland: A Timeline

1,000 Years of Jewish Life in Poland: A Timeline

In 2009, we published a well-researched, highly acclaimed timeline with the most significant events and personalities in the 1,000 years of Polish Jewish history. Beginning with the arrival of Ibrahim Ibn Yakub in the year 965, the illustrated timeline follows the rich and complex history of Polish Jewry through to the present. In 2016, French and Hebrew language translations were made possible with the support of a grant from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2020, a substantially expanded edition was published. A subsequent grant from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs enabled the Taube Center to publish the revised English edition in Polish, Hebrew, and German.

In 2022, the Taube Center will publish Spanish and French editions based on the 2020 iteration. The project includes the creation of new e-versions as well as a print run of several hundred hardcopies. It will also include the development of a handbook for teachers, guides, and educators, based on the Timeline, which will be available in English and Polish. The project, under the Polish title “Wspólna historia, nowe rozdzialy. Trzecia edycja - 2022” (English: “Shared History: New Chapters. Third edition 2022”), is supported by a grant of PLN 88,948 from the Polish Ministry of
Foreign Affairs.
